RWA (Ray Wyre Associates) Child Protection Services works with children and adolescents in a number of residential and non residential settings. An outline of the programme is illustrated below.
With young people it is important to note that whilst RWA Child Protection Services will centre on the offending behaviour, there are many other issues that will need to be addressed separate to the offending behaviour. Adolescents are changing, they need education and support, they need help in developing resilience and therefore need consistency. Young people that abuse often have deficits with regard to empathy and intimacy development. RWA Child Protection Services recognises that for any of the offending behaviour programmes to be effective, secure, caring and consistent input is required. This includes the clear setting of boundaries.
This may mean setting up programmes to work with the parents, carers and foster carers.
RWA Child Protection Services is able to make recommendations as to the best environment for this work to be undertaken. This must include assessing the young persons risk to the community. We are gate-keepers to a number of resources that can offer everything from residential care, to care within the community. Sometimes we are working with a young person who is brought to therapy sessions by their parents. At other times we are working with the young person whilst they remain in care, sometimes within secure accommodation, sometimes in units that are open, but offer 24 hour supervision.
Please contact
if you need to discuss any of these issues.
